LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head soccer coach Tom Stone has turned to a familiar face to fill a spot on his coaching staff, appointing former Red Raider captain Charlotte [Teeter] Masters as an assistant coach and the Red Raiders Director of Player Development.

No stranger to Texas Tech or the City of Lubbock, Masters joins the Red Raider coaching staff after a decorated career that featured 90 total appearances and 85 starts.

A true leader, Masters scored 14 goals and tallied nine assists in her five year career, helping the Red Raiders to a 54-25-17 record over her career and a pair of trips to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Masters is married to former Texas Tech Baseball standout Cody Masters and has already arrived in Lubbock and begun work with the Red Raiders ahead of the start of the spring portion of the soccer calendar.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:

HC TOM STONE:
“When the NCAA allowed women’s college soccer to add a fourth coach, we really wanted to be intentional with the qualities that we wanted in this coach. There are a lot of great young coaches out there, and we knew this would be a young coach that would be joining our staff. There are a lot of great options out there, but what we really zeroed in on was character development, team building and the ability to connect with our players. All three of those aspects have become so important for us, and that really showed up this year in how together we were and how the chemistry was at an all-time high. We feel like Charlotte knows ‘The Texas Tech Way’ and has lived it being a former player. She’s been a starter and a leader. As a mentor and as a young person that can help our players make the transition to college life and college soccer, I don’t think we could have found a better example of what it takes to make it on and off the field, so Charlotte was a no-brainer for us. We’re thrilled to have such a quality young woman on our staff.”

COACH CHARLOTTE [TEETER] MASTERS:
“This was perfect timing with the NCAA awarding women’s soccer an additional coaching spot. So, when Coach Stone reached out to me, I was so honored and excited. I’m only a year removed from being a player, but who would pass up the chance to work with the Big 12 Champions on their staff. What an incredible year they had, and to work for a program that means a ton to me is incredibly special. I learned so much from these coaches, and my experience at Texas Tech was amazing. So, I just want to do the same and pour into these girls while I’m here. My goal is for all of the players in this program to have the same experience that I had while they’re here at Texas Tech. I hope to enhance the experience for them and be a help to them however they need me to be. My husband Cody and I could not be more excited to return to Lubbock and Texas Tech. We were both athletes here, and it’s exciting to pour into a school and athletic department that means so much so much to both of us, and we’re excited to be a part of the Lubbock community and Texas Tech Athletics.”
