Amy O: Always in Our Hearts

We all lost a beloved member of our radio family.

04/22/2024 – Alpha Media Lubbock is deeply saddened to announce the loss of Amy O, who lost her life this weekend in a tragic motorcycle accident in San Antonio.

For the last 15 years, Amy O’s larger-that-life voice was only topped by her even larger-than-life love for the music and for her community. Serving as the Content Director for 104.9 The Beat, she lit up their airwaves as their afternoon host every day of the week.

Sr. Vice President of Alpha Media Lubbock, Jay Richardson, had this to say: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Amy. It is rare to find a person as passionate as she was to her career and community. I had the opportunity to work with Amy for the last 14 years and she was the face and energy behind 104.9 The Beat. It is impossible to replace what she brought to our organization and to the people of Lubbock.”

When not on the air, Amy was determined to live her life to the fullest in every way possible, embracing every chance to engage with the world. Mentoring local kids, cheering at a sports game, exploring all of the local hot spots and restaurants… You name it, she did it in the most joyous ways possible.

We wanna hear you favorite Amy O moments and stories, plus, share your condolences, and we’ll put them on the air.

Let’s fill the airwaves with memories of Amy O!

We remember the day when she hid JR’s KC mug in the vending machine…
