Patterson Branch Library would like to invite the Lubbock community to the 21st Annual African American History Month Program on Saturday, February 24 at 2:00 PM. This year we will be celebrating the generational legacies of individuals and their descendants who have followed their familial footsteps and ancestral paths.

Guest speakers will include Pastor Larry and Sister Greta Brooks, who have served the Community Baptist Church for 33 years and are also committed to the Good News Club at Alderson Elementary. Also speaking are Bryan and Nedra Hotchkins, owners of Think Positionality, LLC; an interactive consulting company that provides intensive, empirical-based trainings to meet the personal and organizational needs of clients interested in holistic success of employees.

There will be a full program of events including poetry, spoken word, a dance performance from the Ervin Comets Dance Team from Ervin Elementary, and music from Joy Harris & Chantell Stubblefield-Bagley.

Twelve families will be honored for their generation legacies and impact on the Lubbock community:

Awards will be handed out by:

  • Mr. Juneteenth, KeShawn Coleman
  • Ms. Junior Juneteenth, Gabriella Wallace
  • Mr. Junior Juneteenth, ZaKarl Wadley

A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow the program in the Mildred Deo Community Room at the Patterson Branch Library.
