Red Raiders host Garden City-CC on Friday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Gerry Glasco’s squad will play its final fall ball game of the season against an outside opponent in Garden City Community College on Friday at 6 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field before holding a series of intrasquad scrimmages later in the month.
The Red Raiders have dominated each of its last four fall ball games by a combined score of 52-5 against Odessa College and Lubbock Christian.
A large part of that has been the pitching staff and play by the defense led by NiJaree Canady in the circle and a strong freshman in Hailey Toney at shortstop. Canady has not allowed a single hit all fall and has struck out 34 batters over 15 innings.
Tech’s bats have been solid as well and despite not recording a home run yet, have been able to produce runs with elite speed and timely hitting. The speedy trio of Makayla Garcia, Logan Halleman and Mihyia Davis lead the team so far in hitting percentage and have combined for 25 hits, 10 RBI and six stolen bases.
