Legendary emcees Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are next to go head to head in a Verzuz battle.

Co-founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland made the announcement during an Instagram Live session this weekend after D’Angelo’s Verzuz at the Apollo.

“Play one of the records who’s coming up next,” said Swizz before Timbaland played a snippet of Ghostface’s “Cobra Clutch.”

“Ok let me play who Ghostface Killah is verzuzing,” Swizz continued before playing Raekwon’s 1995 classics, “Incarcerated Scarfaces” and “Verbal Intercourse.”

“Raekwon vs. Ghostface,” confirmed Swizz. “What we talking about New York City, Staten Island stand up. Wu vs Wu.”

A date for the Verzuz battle has yet to be determined but Swizz said fans won’t have to wait weeks or months for this legendary match up between the two Wu-Tang members.

Wu-Tang Clan is regarded as one of the most influential rap groups in hip hop, coming out of Staten Island New York. Along with Raekwon and Ghostface, the 10-man collective consisted of east coast rappers such as RZA, Method Man, among others, as well as Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who died in 2004. The group went on to release eight studio albums, including their 1993 debut, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers.) and 1997’s Wu-Tang Forever, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap album.

“Incarcerated Scarfaces” and “Verbal Intercourse” were both featured on Raekwon’s 1995 solo debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Link. During an interview with Tidal’s Elliot Wilson last August, Kwon announced the forthcoming, third installment to his Cuban Link series to follow-up 2007’s Pt. II.

Ghostface released 13 solo albums after his 1996 debut, Ironman. According to Instagram, the rapper is currently working on a compilation album featuring all unsigned artists from the UK.
