Ambroziak leads Tech with Top 15 finish in fall finale

Maja Ambroziak led Texas Tech at The Fin, finishing tied for 13th as the Red Raiders concluded the three-day tournament Wednesday at Freestone Lake and Golf Club.

Texas Tech posted its best team round of the tournament with a 16-over 304 in the final round to finish ninth at 60-over 924 (313-307-304). The Red Raiders lowered their team score in each round, closing the fall portion of their schedule with their strongest performance of the week.

Ambroziak finished tied for 13th at 6-over 222 (74-72-76). The senior entered Wednesday’s final round inside the top 10 before carding a 4-over 76. She caps the fall season with two top-20 finishes in three events.

Angel Yin recorded the lowest counting score for Texas Tech in the final round, carding a 2-over 74 to finish tied for 34th at 14-over 230 (78-78-74). The round marked Yin’s lowest score of the tournament.

Klara Hurtova, competing as an individual, delivered the lowest round by a Red Raider Wednesday with an even-par 72. Hurtova opened with three birdies across her first six holes before giving back three shots over her final 12 holes. She finished tied for 42nd at 17-over 233 (82-79-72).

Tarini Bhoga and Cameron Freund each carded 5-over 77s in the final round. Bhoga finished 50th at 19-over 235 (80-78-77), while Freund tied for 51st at 21-over 237 (81-79-77). Parat Sukanant rounded out the lineup in 54th at 26-over 242 (83-79-80).

Texas A&M claimed the team title at 5-over 869, finishing 11 shots ahead of Oklahoma State. Mississippi State placed third at 22-over 886.

The Fin marked Texas Tech’s final tournament of the fall season. The Red Raiders will return to competition in the spring, Feb. 1-3, at the Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla.
