South Plains-Texas Air Conditioning Contractors Association partners with Lubbock ISD to Host 26th Annual Heat the Town

WHAT:
The South Plains-Texas Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SP-TACCA) is partnering with Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) students from the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center (ATC) for this year’s Heat the Town campaign. This campaign allows the SP-TACCA heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors to inspect home equipment, repair minor problems and identify any hazards to the homes of the elderly and low-income homeowners in the Lubbock area.
The SP-TACCA allows students from the Byron Martin ATC to train and assist industry professionals and gain real work experience under their guidance. All services completed by the SP-TACCA during this event are at no charge to the homeowner. Senior citizen homeowners can see if they qualify for the Heat the Town program by contacting Area Agency on Aging at 806-687-0940.
WHEN AND WHERE:
The event begins at 7 a.m. at United Refrigeration (701 E. 44th St) where local contractors and ATC students will meet and receive their assignments for the day. These volunteers will then spend the day visiting homes to inspect and repair HVAC equipment and identify any hazards that could cause future issues. The event should wrap up around 3 p.m.
Media professionals interested in covering this event should contact Amanda Castro-Crist, Ivan Monarrez or Jodi Hamlin for further guidance on which homes news stations reporters are welcomed to film and interview residents and volunteers.
