LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off a two-assist performance in Friday’s 2-1 win over LSU, Texas Tech Defender Macy Blackburn was named to the TopDrawer Soccer Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday.

After setting up the Red Raiders first goal on a perfect free kick service to Taylor Zdrojewski, Blackburn added her second assist of the evening during the run of play, when she took a perfect pass from Millie Elwood and flicked a service into the box that connected with Skylar Haase. Haase rewarded the defender by slotting a header into the right-hander corner of the net for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

With her two-assist performance Blackburn raised her single season assist total to 10, bringing her to within one assist of tying her assist mark from a season ago when she finished just one assist shy of tying Alli Murphy’s program record for single-game assists.

Blackburn also brought her total assist total to 33 for her career, as he became the first Red Raider in program history to record a pair of 10-assist seasons.

The defender also moved into the top-10 in active assists in the NCAA, as Blackburn is now the nations-leader in active assists by a defender.

Blackburn and the Red Raiders resume NCAA Tournament play on Friday night at No. 1 Duke. First touch from Durham is set for 6 p.m.
