DMX’s Memorial Service Will Be Streamed On YouTube

Family, friends and fans of Earl “DMX” Simmons will pay tribute to the late rapper and actor during a memorial homegoing service this weekend.

On Saturday, April 24th, DMX’s “Celebration of Life” memorial will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and live-streamed on the rapper’s YouTube channel starting at 4 p.m. ET for fans around the world to watch.

DMX’s homegoing celebration will take place the following day — Sunday, April 25th — and will be broadcast live on BET and its YouTube channel starting at 2:30 pm ET.

According to reps for the rapper, attendance at both events has been restricted to family and close friends due to health and safety guidelines, in accordance with New York State COVID-19 protocols.

DMX died on April 9th after suffering a heart attack at age 50. He spent several days on life support at White Plains Hospital in New York and never recovered.

Following his passing, DMX’s music skyrocketed up the Billboard charts, including his 1998 classic “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” which re-entered the Hot 100 chart at #16 — making it his highest-charting single to date. It follows his previous record-holder, “Money, Power, Respect” — featuring Lil Kim and former Ruff Ryders group The Lox — which peaked at #17 on the chart.

Meanwhile, his greatest hits compilation, The Best of DMX, currently sits at the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
